This guide explains how to use Bookmark Collections in the Musical Futures International platform to save, organise and sequence lessons for your teaching.
Bookmark Collections are designed to support real classroom planning, not lock you into a fixed structure. You decide how to organise your resources.
What are Bookmarks and Collections?
Bookmarks
A Bookmark saves a lesson so you can quickly find it again later.
Once a lesson is bookmarked:
- It appears in All Bookmarks
- It can be added to one or more Collections
Collections
Collections are folders you create to organise your bookmarks.
For example:
- Year 6
- Term 4
- Band Rehearsal
- Ukulele Unit
- Assessment Tasks
A key idea:
One lesson can appear in multiple Collections at the same time.
Where to find your Bookmarks
- Go to your School Homepage
- Scroll to My Bookmarks
- You’ll see:
- A Collections panel on the left
- Your bookmarked lesson cards on the right
Understanding “All Bookmarks”
All Bookmarks is your master list. It:
- Always shows every lesson you’ve bookmarked
- Updates automatically when you bookmark or unbookmark lessons
- Cannot be renamed, reordered, or deleted
Think of it as the source list that everything else is built from.
How to bookmark a lesson
- Open any lesson
- Click Bookmark
To completely remove a lesson from your account later, click Remove bookmark.
Creating a new Collection
- In the Collections panel, click + Folder
- Enter a name
- Click OK
You can:
- Create multiple Collections
- Rename Collections
- Delete Collections at any time
Deleting a Collection does not delete your bookmarks.
Adding lessons to a Collection
Option 1: Use the dropdown menu
- Open All Bookmarks
- On a lesson card, open Add to collection…
- Choose a Collection
The lesson is now added to that Collection. The video below shows how to do this:
Option 2: Drag and drop
- Click and drag a lesson card
- Drop it onto a Collection name in the left panel
Both methods do the same thing. Check out the video below:
Viewing a Collection
Click a Collection name in the left panel.
You’ll now see only the lessons that belong to that Collection. Check it out!
Removing a lesson from a Collection (without unbookmarking it)
When viewing a Collection (not All Bookmarks), each lesson card includes:
− Remove from this collection
Clicking this:
- Removes the lesson from the current Collection
- Keeps it bookmarked
- Keeps it visible in All Bookmarks and other Collections
You cannot remove lessons from All Bookmarks this way.
Reordering lessons inside a Collection
When viewing a Collection:
- Drag lesson cards up or down to change their order
This lets you:
- Build a teaching sequence
- Arrange lessons for a term
- Group activities in a logical progression
Reordering does not affect other Collections.
Renaming or deleting a Collection
Hover over a Collection name to reveal:

which means Delete
Deleting a Collection:
- Removes the folder only
- Does not remove bookmarks from your account
Common questions
Can a lesson be in more than one Collection?
Yes. This is intentional and encouraged.
For example, a lesson could be in:
- Year 6
- Term 1
- Assessment Prep
What’s the difference between “Remove bookmark” and “Remove from this collection”?
- Remove bookmark: deletes the lesson from your account entirely
- Remove from this collection: removes it from one Collection only
Can I use Collections as a fixed curriculum sequence?
Collections are flexible by design. Many teachers use them as:
- Term plans
- Lesson banks
- Planning drafts
They’re not locked scope-and-sequence tools.

- Use All Bookmarks as your inbox
- Create Collections for classes, terms, or projects
- Don’t worry about “perfect organisation” — Collections are easy to change
- Use drag-and-drop ordering to sketch lesson flow quickly
