The new syllabus moved into classrooms this year. The 2003 syllabus is gone after December 2027. Every unit on the platform is aligned to the new one.

Stage 4
The mandatory course
Everyone Can Play, Just Play and Playalongs run a whole class through performing on guitar, bass, keys, ukulele and drums. Non specialists can take these lessons straight off the screen.
Stage 5
Elective music that keeps numbers up
Rock Squad, Play Now and the songwriting units give electives something to perform and something to write. Learn the DAW and Remix cover the composing and technology side.
Stage 6
Preliminary and HSC support

Questions NSW teachers ask
Can NSW public schools buy this through the Online Learning Tools Marketplace?
Yes. Search the Marketplace for Musical Futures International Teaching Resources and order it through the same procurement system your school uses for everything else. You can also buy directly on our site by card, or on a school purchase order with an invoice.
Is it aligned to the NSW Music 7–10 Syllabus (2024)?
Yes. Every unit is aligned to the new syllabus, across performing, listening and composing. The Curriculum Mapping Tool lists the outcomes against the lessons that cover them, so you can build a program straight from it. Open the mapping tool.
How many teachers can use one subscription?
Five. Full Access is a school site licence with five teacher logins, so a whole faculty works from one subscription. Each teacher gets their own login and can use it at school and at home.
Do students need a login?
No. You copy a share link from any lesson, module or course and paste it into Google Classroom, Teams, Canvas or an email. Students open it on any device with no account and no password. No student data is collected, and the links stop working when your subscription ends.
Does it cover the mandatory course as well as elective music?
Yes. Everyone Can Play, Just Play and Playalongs carry the Stage 4 mandatory course, where a whole class has to perform together from scratch. Rock Squad, Play Now, Learn the DAW, Remix and the songwriting units go deeper for Stage 5 and 6 electives.
What if we have almost no instruments?
Beats, Chair Drumming, body percussion and beatboxing need nothing but the room. Learn the DAW and Recreate run on school laptops or iPads using free software like Chrome Music Lab, BandLab and Soundtrap. Ukulele and keyboard units get a lot out of a small set of instruments.
I'm not a specialist music teacher. Can I still use it?
Yes. Every lesson has a teaching video, so you can put it on the screen and learn alongside the class. The sequencing, the backing tracks and the parts are all done. You bring the classroom management.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, 30 days of Full Access with no card required. Start a free trial and use it with a real class before you commit any budget.
What does it cost, and is GST included?
Full Access is $499 AUD plus GST per year for the whole school. Starter Pack is $145, Band Skills and Music Tech are $299 each, all plus GST. Prices are per year, not per teacher. Compare the four plans.
What happens when the subscription ends?
Teacher logins stop opening the course pages and the share links you sent to students stop resolving. Anything you downloaded and printed is yours to keep. You can resubscribe at any time and pick up where you left off.
Can we upgrade later in the year?
Yes, and you only pay the difference. If you start on Starter Pack or one of the $299 packs and want to move up mid-year, the upgrade is pro-rata against what you have already paid.
Is it safe to use with students under the ST4S framework?
Musical Futures International has been independently assessed by Safer Technologies 4 Schools, the framework NSW and other Australian jurisdictions use to check privacy and data security. Because students never create an account, there is no student data for us to hold.
